Warriors’ Moody Stretchered Off After Noncontact Knee Injury

Golden State’s Moses Moody suffered a serious left knee injury during the final moments of the Warriors’ 137-131 overtime victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, requiring a stretcher to leave the court.

The injury occurred with 1:13 remaining in overtime when Moody intercepted a pass from Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg and went up for what appeared to be an uncontested dunk. As he planted his left leg, his knee buckled unexpectedly, sending him sprawling to the floor in a noncontact incident that left players and coaches visibly shaken.

Medical personnel immediately attended to Moody, who remained on the court for several minutes before being transported off on a stretcher. Warriors coach Steve Kerr described the moment as difficult to witness, noting that the nature of the injury remained unclear but appeared severe. Moody underwent X-rays at the arena following the game, though initial assessments suggested the injury could be significant.

The timing of the injury was particularly unfortunate for both Moody and the Warriors. The 23-year-old wing had just returned from a ten-game absence due to a right wrist sprain and delivered an impressive performance against Dallas. He finished with 23 points and three steals, all coming against Flagg during the fourth quarter and overtime, with his defensive contributions helping spark an 11-0 Golden State run early in the final period.

Kerr praised Moody’s work ethic and contributions, describing him as an exceptional teammate and professional. Fellow Warriors players expressed their concern for their teammate, with the injury serving as a stark reminder of how quickly careers can be affected by unexpected moments on the court.

The incident adds to a growing injury crisis for Golden State. The Warriors are already without veteran wing Jimmy Butler, who suffered a torn ACL in early January on a similarly awkward landing. Star guard Stephen Curry has missed the last 22 games with a persistent right knee issue, while center Al Horford remains sidelined with a calf strain.

Despite the injury overshadowing their victory, the Warriors secured a much-needed road win, ending a three-game losing streak. The win comes as Golden State battles to maintain its position in the Western Conference play-in bracket at 34-38. The team now awaits updates on Moody’s condition while managing multiple significant absences heading into the critical final stretch of the season.
