Raptors Crush Magic with Historic 31-0 Run in 139-87 Rout

Toronto Raptors dismantled the Orlando Magic 139-87 on Sunday night in Toronto, fueled by a staggering 31-0 scoring burst in the first half that stands as the longest unanswered run in the NBA’s play-by-play era, dating back to 1996-97.

The rout began early as Orlando jumped to an 18-11 lead on a Jalen Suggs 3-pointer with 6:35 left in the opening quarter. Toronto answered decisively, closing the period on a 27-2 spurt to seize control. The Magic’s woes deepened with 12 turnovers in the first 12 minutes alone, which the Raptors converted into 14 points. Orlando managed just two field goals the rest of the quarter while Toronto built momentum.

The drought extended into the second quarter. After Paolo Banchero’s jumper at the 5:30 mark of the first, the Magic went scoreless for over 15 minutes of game time until Banchero finally ended it with 9:42 remaining in the half. That span marked Toronto’s 31 straight points, a sequence that buried Orlando and set a modern NBA record, surpassing the Dallas Mavericks’ 30-0 run in a 2026 loss to Oklahoma City.

RJ Barrett paced the Raptors with 24 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Scottie Barnes delivered 23 points on efficient 9-of-14 shooting, including 2-of-2 from deep, to go with a career-high 15 assists. The team capitalized on Orlando’s 28 total turnovers for 37 points, while the Magic shot poorly and finished with only 31 made baskets. Desmond Bane led Orlando with 17 points and three rebounds, followed by Suggs with 13 and Tristan da Silva with 12. Banchero struggled, going 3-for-14 for nine points after three straight 30-point games.

Toronto’s largest margin hit 56 points at 126-70 after A.J. Lawson’s 3-pointer with 9:31 to play. The Raptors sat key players like Brandon Ingram (sore right heel), Collin Murray-Boyles (back spasms) and Immanuel Quickley (right foot), yet dominated.

The win lifted Toronto to 42-32, strengthening their hold on a playoff spot while going 12-4 against Southeast Division foes, including this lopsided victory over Orlando. For the Magic, now 39-35, it marked their seventh loss in eight games after snapping a six-game skid against Sacramento. They host Phoenix on Tuesday, while Toronto visits Detroit the same night.
